South West Water (part of the Pennon Group Plc), employ over 1,300 personnel. It has responsibility to maintain and improve the region's environment and bathing waters, while making sure that all 1.6 million customers have reliable round the clock access to high quality drinking water and waste water facilities.
The organisation makes extensive use of its ICT systems and it recognises how investment in technology can be maximised by ensuring that their personnel have the necessary skills and training. A good example of this is the technical training courses that Nexus delivered for South West Water
Nexus delivered a 4 day tailored course that was a combination of Relational Database Development and Introductory SQL Training, using Microsoft OMLP course 2071 - Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2000 with Transact-SQL.
The course was supervised by a fully qualified Nexus in-house Microsoft Certified Trainer, but delivered by a Nexus Senior Software Developer. This approach delivers real-life work experience to the course and takes delegates beyond the standard scope of the course.
Nexus also conducted a meeting with the client, prior to the course, to identify specific requirements and the objectives that they were looking to achieve. This initial course was so successful that South West Water booked additional training for the delegates, enabling them to continue through a series of public scheduled Microsoft OMLP courses, leading to the Microsoft SQL Business Intelligence certification. |
